

Carl Miki Nemoto passed away quickly on January 23, 2026 in Kaneohe, Hawaii. He was 99 years old. He lived a long, happy and fairly independent life at the Good Samaritan Society – Pohai Nani assisted living facility.
He was born in Waipahu and grew up helping his parents with their family store on Depot Road. He went to grade school in Waipahu and graduated from St Louis High School (then known as St Louis College). In 1944 he started attending the University of Hawaii but left early to serve in the army. After his service he finished his studies at the University of Hawaii majoring in Zoology. He graduated in 1950. That same year he married Satsuki Ishida and they lived happily together until her passing in 2018.
Carl worked as a fishery biologist for the Fish and Game Division of the State of Hawaii for a little over ten years. He left to take a job as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative and worked for Strasenburg Laboratories in both the Prescription Division as well as the Proprietary (over-the-counter) Division. Yearly meetings took him to the home office in Rochester, New York, as well as various other cities all over the mainland. His job enabled him to travel to cities in other countries as well. He traveled to Mexico City, Toronto, and Tokyo. During his employment he earned the President’s Club award with the Proprietary Division and was honored in Scottsdale, Arizona. He also achieved an award with the Prescription Division and went to Nassau, Bahamas. He retired in 1989 when his company was bought by a company from England.
He was a charter member of Kailua Christian Church and served as a moderator for many years. He was active with the United Church of Christs’ general assembly; serving as the moderator of the Mokupuni, and as a member of the Church and Ministry Committee. He also held the position of the Treasurer for the Windward Coalition for over twenty years.
He is survived by his children Ada Lynn Braum, Nathan Nemoto, and Elizabeth Reed, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
