

He was the youngest of 3 boys born to Hattie and JW Betts in Casa Grande, Arizona. He left his legacy in track and field on the halls of Casa Grande High School, Phoenix College, and North Texas State University. He was drafted into the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After being discharged he continued his education and started his career at Sears as a Merchandise Manager for 38 years and transferred to Allstate as an Insurance Agent before he retired. He looked forward to annual hunting trips to Fairfield, Texas with his cousins, golfing around the world, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to travel, watch sunsets on the beach, and drink single malt scotch with an occasional cigar.
He is survived by his wife, Tracey; sons, Xavier and Erlen; daughters Krista and Charlette; brother JW Betts Jr; and 15 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on June 19, 2024 at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery at the committal shelter at 10 a.m.
