It is with great sadness to announce that our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother, Ella Wai King Pong Loui, 98, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side, on June 16, 2022.
Ella was born on September 3, 1923, in Honolulu, Hawaii, with 8 siblings. She married Joseph Chong Fat Loui on September 14, 1942. She has missed him very much, since his passing in 1981. We take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with him now.
Ella worked in customer service with McInerny in Ala Moana until its closure. She was a loving, caring, accepting and generous person who was optimistic with all who knew her. Seeing her extended family made her happy. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas where she has won numerous royal flushes and Jackpots. She also had a knack of finding a nickel poker machine she could play on for hours. She loved watching and attending the UH men’s and women's Volleyball and Football games.
She is survived by sister, Violet Chan; brother Richard (Kwai Fong) Pong; sons, Fred, Edmund (Karen), David (Teri); twin daughters Leanette (Chester) Gima, Jeanette (Ronald) Ching; 8 grandkids, 13 great-grandkids, and 2 great-great-grandkids.
Mahalo to Dr.Gina Fujikami and the Malama Ola Hospice staff for their love, kindness and care.
Private Services will be held to celebrate and for remembrance of her amazing life.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.BorthwickOahu.com for the Loui family.
