Upon retiring from the Navy Dad began working for civil service at Pearl Harbor for the federal government receiving recognition of faithful and devoted Federal Service for 16 years at the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Pearl Harbor. While doing all of this Mom and Dad supported 2 daughters who served full time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints one after the other.
In 1955 Dad met and fell in love with the Love of his life, Melita Ruth Siufanua. They were married December 10, 1955. Later Dad embraced the gospel and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our family was sealed in the Laie Hawaii Temple on February 19, 1972. Dad found joy serving in the church. Besides serving as a counselor in the bishopric he loved working as the ward clerk, financial clerk, Stake clerk and assistant Stake clerk which totaled over 30 years of service in those capacities. He loved numbers and he loved to be the official tech guy for the ward and the stake. He was very dependable and knowledgeable in those areas and loved the many opportunities to help. Dear to his heart was the calling to serve with Mom in the Family History Center. It meant so much to him to be able to do that with his sweetheart. He loved his callings and served faithful until the very end.
Dad loved his sports. He was quite the sportsman. He earned prestigious honors while playing softball in the Navy. He also coached and played at the same time. His other love was playing table tennis and bowling. He was very good and was difficult to beat. Dad did love the great outdoors, he grew up hunting and fishing. There are many memories of our family leaving the city to go up into the mountains to camp. A love that dad shared with us. Dad was a remarkable husband, father, grandfather and friend, who lived a wonderful life, full of caring and kindness. Dad will be greatly missed.
