

James Cooke Palakiko Jr., known lovingly as Kimo or Jimmy. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on March 28th, 2025, at the age of 62. The world feels a little dimmer without his warm smile and boisterous laughter.
Born in Honolulu on November 15th, 1962, to Elizabeth (Manning) and James Palakiko Sr., Kimo lived a life rich in experience and dedicated to service. A proud graduate of Farrington High School, he embraced a diverse and fulfilling career path, working as a laborer, custodian, car mechanic, copy machine technician, and LPN, ultimately finding his calling as a compassionate concierge at circuit court. These varied roles showcased his adaptability, resourcefulness, and innate ability to connect with people.
Beyond his professional life, Kimo was a pillar of his community, a testament to his generous spirit and unwavering faith. A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he dedicated countless hours as a volunteer, contributing his time and energy to numerous organizations including the Lions Club, Scouting programs, Family Support within the Hawaii National Guard, HGEA, various community associations, Castle High School initiatives, and countless community fairs and service projects. His commitment to bettering the lives of others was truly inspirational.
Kimo is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene Palakiko; his sons, Micah, Matthew, and Mark (Monica) Palakiko; and his sisters, Howardlynn (Danny) Sivaivai and Hattie (John) Foster. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and James Palakiko Sr., and his elder sister, Leana Ferran
To honor Kimo's memory and celebrate the remarkable life he lived, a service of remembrance will be held on May 16th, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Kaneohe Stake Center, located at 46-117 Halaulani Street, Kaneohe, HI 96744. A viewing will commence at 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., and a luncheon afterward. We invite you to join us in celebrating his life and sharing your cherished memories. Your presence would be a comforting tribute to a man who touched so many lives.
