Jean Kimiko (Kakazu) Takasato 91, passed away on September 10, 2021. She was born on the Windward side of Oahu Hawaii and was from the Nisei generation in Hawaii whose Grandparents migrated from Okinawa.
At the early age of 7, she began her life’s legacy of taking great care of her family and others.
On June 3, 1951 she married Roland S. Takasato at the Kailua Methodist church and together they bought a home in Kaneohe and raised for (4) children: Faith, Joanne, Cheryl and Roland Jr.
Jean worked and retired as a cashier at Yamashiro’s Building Supply and was well known for sewing beautiful quilts, patchwork blankets and pillows always giving them as gifts to those she loved. She volunteered to read to children at Kapunahala Elementary School and was a long time member of the Oroku Azajin Okinawan club.
She was well known as the beautiful lady with a beautiful smile and the biggest heart, always helping others, cooking, sewing and babysitting with never an unkind word.
Jean is survived by daughters Faith (Takasato) Tanikawa and granddaughters Julie and Lisa;
Joanne Takasato and granddaughter Michele; Cheryl Tokuda (deceased) grandchildren Jill, grandsons Reid and Kyle; Roland Jr Takasato (Trina) granddaughters Natasha, Lauren and grandson Raiden; She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, Matt, Aden, Kylia, Jaymes, Tyler, Luke and Joshua. She is also survived by sisters Haruko (Kakazu) Chun and Louise (Kakazu) Kawagoe (George), sisters-in-law Frances Kakazu, Jane Kakazu, and Michiyo Kakazu. She is predeceased by her husband Roland S. Takasato Sr., daughter Cheryl S (Takasato) Tokuda; brother, Benjamin, George, Samuel, Masami, Shinichi, and Sueo Kakazu and sisters Florence Uehara, Momoye Kakazu, and Yoshiko Rabe.
Private services (due to COVID) will be held at Borthwick on October 15,2021 and Final internment services will be held on October 22,2021 at 11am at the Hawaiian Memorial Veterans cemetery in Kaneohe at the Committal Pavilion in Kaneohe.
