Born and raised in Harrisburg, Joe was a proud graduate of Central Dauphin High School, Class of 1960. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1962. Over a distinguished 30-year career, he rose to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9), serving in key command positions and as a combat veteran. Joe’s leadership, dedication, and patriotism earned him the deep respect of all who served alongside him. He retired from active duty in 1992.
Following his military career, Joe continued his commitment to service by working with the Air Force Education Center for 17 years, sharing his knowledge and experience with others. He retired from federal service in December 2012.
Joe was a Christian and a man of deep and abiding faith, which guided his life, his service, and his devotion to others. His faith was a quiet but steady foundation, reflected in the way he loved his family and cared for those around him.
Above all, Joe was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared a deep and enduring love with his wife, Eva Peace, building a life centered on family, strength, and unwavering support. He was a proud and loving father to Angela Fryers Peace (Gordon), Edward “Eddie” Peace (Brandie), and Susan Bradshaw (Joe). He was a cherished grandfather to Cameron Fryers, Brandon Fryers, Gabe Bradshaw, Jaden Bradshaw, Lily Bradshaw, Nani Bradshaw, Eva Peace, and Ella Peace. He is also survived by his extended family, including Jhet Reyes (Thomas), Jane Bonggao (Jun), Bing Pardalis (Jon) and Ara Aureus.
Joe lived a life filled with simple but meaningful joys. Most days, you could find him on the golf course, where he was an avid golfer with a deep love for the game. When he wasn’t on the fairway, he was behind the camera, always searching for the perfect shot with a photographer’s eye. Whether traveling the world—capturing unforgettable moments in South Africa, exploring the historic temples of Cambodia—or standing along the shores of Oahu at sunset, Joe found joy through the lens. He especially cherished photographing his family and took great pride in perfecting each image in the editing process.
A passionate sports fan, Joe’s loyalty never wavered. He was a devoted supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State football, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on—whether through an enthusiastic post or a well-timed shout during the game. You always knew exactly where he stood.
Joe was known for his sharp intellect, his caring nature, and his sense of humor. He had a way of bringing laughter to any room, often with jokes that were as unexpected as they were memorable. He was, above all, a great man—deeply devoted to his family, fiercely proud of his country, and grounded in his faith.
At Joe’s request, a private service will be held. His family will honor his wishes.
Chief Master Sergeant (Ret.) Joe W. Peace will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
