I was saddened to hear of Norm’s passing through Peggy Traylor.  Norm and I worked together for many years at the Arc in Hawaii.  
He will always be remembered as the gentle giant with that big smile on his face and a heart full of love and compassion.

My heart is broken knowing that my friend of over 45 years has gone to be with the Lord! I know he is a much better place. 
Months ago when I heard my friend was not going to get better I prayed for peace for him and his sisters. His sisters were there with him for months at his bedside. Karen, Nancy and Colleen you are the best sisters. Thank You for being there for my best friend.

Our sincere sympathy on Norman’s passing! We have such happy memories of times spent together with Norm at the farm and on our visits to Hawaii where he met us with beautiful leis!  We also will never forget how he spoiled us with boxes of wonderful foods, calendars and books from his precious HI that he had delivered to our home. He was so very special and will be so missed.      Norman Mills lived many roles during his lifetime.  As a young man he worked with his family on their dairy farm in Holly, Michigan.  He served his country in Viet Nam for two years.  Following his tour of duty, Norman settled in Hawaii permanently.  A role he specially cherished was being  special caregiver to the physically and mentally challenged in Hawaii.  As a registered nurse at Queen’s Medical Center, Norman devoted his time and training caring for the sick and injured, focusing on cardiac care unit before his retirement after 25 years of service. 
He loved being the only brother to his three sisters, Nancy, Karen and Colleen, who, in the final months of his life, lovingly  and devotedly cared for him 24/7.  In his final months his niece Lisa was an important addition to this loving team of three very strong women – his family, friends, companions and caregivers. 
As a very good and true friend, he was most admired by those who enjoyed sharing long-lasting relationships in his adopted home in Hawaii.  He and his partner, Ronal Yokota, enjoyed their retirement years in the home the bought in Kailua, spending time and love renovating it in the past year, with special help from his cousin Terry and his wife Orchid.   Norman and Ron spent several years raising award winning Persian cats.   For several years, his dog, Kaimi, was his constant faithful companion, having passed away just months before Norman.
Norman will always be remembered as a very dear, caring, loving, generous and faithful friend, a treasured member of our family.

Norm was an important part of our high school  basketball team.  His dedication and hard worked earned him the trust and confidence of the coach and the entire team.  His talent and  concern made us a better team.
