I wish I’d known of Paul’s passing and wondered how he was doing since I’d not heard from him. I’m forever grateful for his information he gave me about my dad the day he was wounded in January of 1945. He gave me so much info and was able to put into perspective where he and my dad were during the height of the combat in Operation Northwind launched by the Germans. Thank you Paul for your service and generosity in helping  me piece together what happened to my father. 🙏😢

Our Uncle Paul was a wonder! He was so generous and so welcoming any time we visited. He was full of interesting stories about his life and the Newman family and shared many documents and pictures with us.  He always greeted us with a big smile and he was ready to venture out or invite us into his home without hesitation. We feel very fortunate for the time we were able to spend with him, with Aunt Sumie, and with Michael and Betty.  Uncle Paul is an inspiration to us all. Like my mom (his sister), he was a kind, gentle and loving person and we will greatly miss him. 

Just wanted to say that although I have too few memories of my sweet uncle Paul, those that I do have always bring a smile to my face.  I know he will be missed and I am sending prayers to all the family.   He will be remembered with love.  

I so remember when Uncle Paul and Aunt Sumi visited our family when we lived in Boulder, Colorado.  Uncle Paul is my mom’s brother.  They brought some Japanese style thongs that had little bells in the bottom; so we would ‘jingle’ when we walked.  So wonderful!!!! Catherine

My husband and I would like to extend our condolences to all Papa Paul’s family, and especially Mike and Betty,  We will miss Paul and his stories.  It was a pleasure to unexpectedly run into him, when he was shopping at his local supermarket.  He was a wonderful example to us of living life in one’s senior years. Brother Paul Newman was a distinguished member of Hawaiian Chapter# 9 of the National Sojourners, a Military Masonic Society. Brother Paul was also a Free Mason, a Shriner and served in numerous other Military and Veterans Service Organizations.

Brother Paul was very proud of his service as an Army Combat Infantry Man during World War II, where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge during the last year of this conflict. He loved telling the story of celebrating his 19th birthday in January 1945 while dodging German small arms fire. 

Brother Paul Newman was a beloved member of our Sojourners Chapter and was serving as our Chaplain when he passed into the Celestial Chapter above. 

He will be missed.

I was glad to have met Papa Paul. I had hoped to meet again. Thank you for sharing these photos, as I hope to learn more about Papa Paul through this and other means. Memories are a treasure and a privilege and I believe his legacy will be carried forward through those that hold them. I will hold on to the memory of our dinner together. For Uncle Mike and those that Papa Paul knew and loved, I hope the day brings joyful reflection to help with the sorrow.

Dear friends and family,
Our nation lost yet another wonderful human being, a hero who fought for freedom during WWII, Paul Newman, 70th Infantry Combat Veteran, my father-in-law left this earth to be with the Lord and his love ones. We are very sad but all the memories of him, specially this past 8 yrs have been nothing but positive reminders of how precious life is. Papa Paul lived each day w/o regrets and never made anyone feel less important. A good man, a loving father, grandfather and best friend to many. In time of difficulties,  surrounding us each day, let us be reminded that those forefathers before us have sacrificed for our freedom. With love,
