Robert "Bob" Gilkey

Robert "Bob" Gilkey, 86, of Olympia, Washington, passed away on January 9, 2015. He was born in Oakland, California. Bob formerly lived in Honolulu, Hawaii and Lawrenceville, Georgia. During his career, he worked as a Personnel Director for St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu from 1957-1967; he was a Deputy Director from 1967-1986 and then became a Director of the State of Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations from 1986-1988; from 1988-2000 he was a Lobbyist for the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association and Hawaii Electricians Local Union 1186 IBEW.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Conchita O. Gilkey. He is survived by his seven children, John Henry of Perris, California; Cristina of Kaneohe; Victoria Gomes of Aberdeen, Washington; Philip Michael of Kaneohe; Daniel Francis of Montebello, California; Joseph Errol of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Lt. Colonel Vincent Anthony of Alexandria, Virginia; and 9 Grandchildren.

Mass will be on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 11:00am. On Tuesday, February 17, 2015 a Celebration of Life will take place at Borthwick Mortuary - Maunakea Chapel. Visitation will be from 4:30pm - 5:30pm, Celebration of Life from 5:30pm - 6:30pm, and a Reception to follow. Interment will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery at 11am.
