Honolulu - Mrs. Sandra Arntzen, 80, of 2215 Aloha Drive, Honolulu, passed away Thursday April 13, from natural causes.
Sandra was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Linden and Lorene Dusosky, where she spent her childhood. She married Army National Guard Reservist Jerry Arntzen of St Paul in the early 1960’s, and enjoyed many years of happy married life until her husband was killed in a motor vehicle accident. In the late 1960’s, Sandie moved to Hawaii and was employed as a salesperson for a wholesaling company selling tourist souvenirs in Waikiki.
An executive of Maui Divers was impressed with her selling skills, and she was recruited for the company. Sandra started out in sales for two of the divisions of Maui Divers - Poly Art and Pele. Within a few years she became Senior Vice President of Sales for Maui Divers Jewelry. Starting in 1983, the company transitioned from wholesale to retail jewelry. The company enjoyed tremendous growth and grew to over 50 retail stores with over 500 employees. Sandie contributed much to the company's success with her strong leadership and motivational skills. Sandra served as a board member for the Hawaii Jeweler’s Association and was an avid supporter of Jewelers of America jewelry education programs.
In 2009 Sandie retired from Maui Divers Jewelry and enjoyed retirement.
She is survived by her brother Gerald Dusosky, of Honolulu along with relatives in Minnesota. Sandie will be greatly missed by her friends, family, and her Maui Divers Jewelry ohana.
Sandra’s Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Saturday May 27, from 10-2 at Borthwick Mortuary, 1330 Maunakea St., Honolulu. Ashes will be scattered at sea.
