

Tomiko “Tomi” Chock passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2021, at the age of 93. She was born in Fukushima, Japan, raised in Tokyo and in 1978, moved to Hawaii. She was a person of many interests, including golf and bowling, in which she even won a few tournaments. Her talents were diverse. Not only was she a skilled poker and mah-jongg player, she also had a Sogetsu Ikebana teacher’s license and enjoyed taking English classes to continually polish her English-speaking skills.
She also loved to grow plants, including orchids, flowers and different fruit trees. Tomiko was an astute real estate investor, purchasing and selling different properties during her lifetime. Most of all, she was a loving mother and wife who always had her family’s interests at heart. She will be missed greatly and remembered fondly forever.
Tomiko was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Chock. She is survived by her daughters Linda Chock, Lorraine Sato (Osamu) and Kathy Hasebe (Glenn); grandchildren, Aimee Tachibana (Yu), Berton Hasebe (Hyo) and Lisa Hori (Jaymes); greatgrandchildren, Ayame Tachibana and Herb Hasebe. She is also survived by an older and younger brother, and other relatives in Japan. Private services will be held at Borthwick Mortuary.
