I still have fond memories of when we were kids and visited from the mainland and going to the house on Esther St. for a family gathering of the Kam family.  Aunty would be  behind the stove preparing the meal and enjoying the visitors.  I can still recall my anticipation and excitement of having the great food and all the relatives gathering there.  Although the years have come and gone, it was nice I was able to return to see Aunty two summers and will have great memories of her in my life forever.

Thanks for always sharing your special home made "green" mochi cakes with our gang of friends. Hoping that our prayers for your peace and happiness find you in your final resting place.

The kids in our family, Charlene, Clay, Doug and I thought going to Aunty Violet's house was the best thing in the world.  In their backyard they had a long piece of lumber that balanced in the middle on some kind of pedestal.  When one person leaned over one end and another person on the opposite end, that piece of lumber could go round and round and round.  Then they had all the paper for drawing or writing  that could last a lifetime.  Each sheet of paper was connected to the next by a perforated line for tearing.  Wow!  More than that, their closet was filled with Archie, Veronica, and Betty comic books.  Going to Aunty Violet's house was always something we looked forward to and we thought the Hu kids were so very lucky.  Aunty Violet and Uncle Hu Kin's house was always an open house...we were always welcomed, and their house was the site of Christmas luaus and other family gatherings for many, many years.  Thank you, Aunty, for the many good memories we keep close to our hearts.

Aunty Violet always had good candy on her kitchen counter for guests to eat.  Randy Yee

My sister Violet was always so soft spoken and generous.  She and Ah Kin were always willing to let me use their large rumpus room for jam sessions during my younger days.  She always had so many different kinds of goodies to munch on.

I remember Auntie babysitting my brothers and me.  Auntie let us pick fruit from the backyard fig and mango tree.  My favorite was the swing in the front yard and boiled peanuts and snacks at the counter of her kitchen.  Yummy cooking and family gatherings at Violet's are among other fond memories of how she showed her love.
