

Master Sergeant Walter Kee Chung Ching, age 82, of Honolulu, Hawai‘i, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, Walter was a proud son of Hawai‘i, a decorated veteran, and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Walter honorably served in the United States Air Force for 26 years, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. A significant portion of his military career was spent in San Vito, Italy, a place he remembered fondly and where he formed lifelong friendships. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued his service to the community as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 14 years. Known for his quiet strength, steady presence, and kind heart, Walter touched the lives of many with his humility and unwavering work ethic.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley, and their three children: Jason (Amy), Katherine, and Jennifer (Alfin). He was the proud grandfather of Steven, Sarah, Courtney, David, Syan, and Arkady, and was also blessed with four great-grandchildren.
Walter is deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his family, extended relatives, and lifelong friends.
Interment with full military honors will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
