Born on Oahu, he was a 1961 graduate of Farrington High School, a US Army Veteran, a member of the 101st Airborne Division, a retired Cement Finisher with Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company and a retired member of the OPCMIA Local 630.

daughter, Denise "Makana" (Gilbert) Kaeo
grandchildren, Reggie Viernes, Moani Naholowa'a, Kailani and Kamalani Kaeo
sisters, Esther "Umi" (Sonny) Gaison, Magnolia "Maggie" Keener and Wanda "Honey" Nakoa
