

William Lewis Beatty, known to many as Bill, was born on June 2, 1938, in Lore City, Ohio to Mary Elizabeth Bulger and Cecil Vergil Beatty. He was raised in Byesville, Ohio alongside his two brothers and two sisters.
In 1957, Bill proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. He served with honor for ten years as a Gunner’s Mate Third Class aboard the USS King. During his dedicated service, he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his service in Vietnam. Bill was honorably discharged on April 12, 1967, concluding a distinguished chapter of military service to his country.
On November 26, 1959, Bill married the love of his life, Laverne “Lulu” Kamae. Together they shared 67 beautiful years of marriage, building a life grounded in love and devotion to family. Together they had 7 beautiful children.
Following his military service, Bill worked as a Skye Chef employee, a driver for Big 3, and at Pearl Harbor Shipyard in the warehouse. Even after retirement, his strong work ethic continued through part-time roles delivering the MidWeek Newspaper and serving as a starter at Kahuku Golf Course, where he enjoyed meeting people and staying active.
Bill’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laverne “Lulu” Beatty; his children Sherry, Billy, Bobby, Shelly, Barry, Willy, and Byron; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Cheryl Cunningham of Ohio and Sharyn Harbin of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Vergil Beatty and Mary Elizabeth Bulger Beatty, and his brothers, Kenneth and Donald Beatty.
Bill will be remembered for his strength, dedication, quiet humor, and deep love for his family. Bill was an avid golfer in his later years, a game he enjoyed playing with the love of his life alongside family and friends. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the generations that follow him.
