Anthony John Friend

Left to cherish Tony's memory are his sons, Justin Friend and Ryan Friend; his mother Joanne Sorenson; father, Wayne Friend (Kitty); brothers, Brad Friend (Susan) and Corey Friend (Suzanne). Tony also leaves behind his loving partner of 9 years, Sally Jackson, and her daughter Haley Jackson, whom he loved like the daughter he never had.

Tony was a veteran who served honorably in the U.S. Army Signal Corps for 13 years. His time in service included tours in Korea, Panama, and the Middle East during the Gulf War, where he earned the Kuwait Liberation Medal. Throughout his years of service, he earned eight commendation medals along with many more individual awards and decorations. However, his proudest achievement was graduating from the US Army Airborne School and becoming a paratrooper. After separating from the military, he worked as a Network Engineer for MCI and Verizon Business for 20 years. Every person who worked with or met Tony throughout his careers experienced his kind and generous spirit.

Tony's hobbies included attending rock concerts, spending time outdoors hiking and fishing, and watching movies (especially sci-fi). Above all, he loved to spend time with his two sons, to whom he selflessly dedicated his life.

A celebration of life to honor Tony's Memory and legacy will be held on September 24, 2023 at Reeves Funeral Home, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and a service at 11:00 a.m. We encourage all who loved him to join us in celebration and remembrance of his life.
