

Betty Rue Johnson Ivey, 84, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Betty was born August 30, 1938 to the late Catherine and Washington ("Wash") Johnson in Wiggins, Mississippi.
She settled in Fayetteville in 1958 after marrying her late husband, D.C. Ivey of Laurel Hill, and has called Fayetteville home since. Betty was a self-taught dog groomer and established Cumberland Poodle Parlor in 1975. After arthritis forced her to retire, she spent her days doing what she loved most-taking care of her husband and home, and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family. Betty was a beloved wife, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. She was kind, compassionate, funny, and the epitome of love. She was the heart of her family and will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, D.C. Ivey; sons, Nathan Leon Ivey and Kenneth Franklin Ivey; two sisters and seven brothers. Betty is survived by her daughter and son in law, Cynthia and David Lee Bowling; grandchildren, Desiree Ivey Lewis, Stephanie Diane Crider, Stevie Lynn Pamphlin, Nathan Brandon Ivey, Daniel Russel Miller, Anthony David Bowling; great grandchildren, Branden Lewis, Justin Lewis, Alexandria Ivey, Cayden Womack, Hunter Womack, and Liam Bowling; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and friends. Betty was an active member of many churches over the years to include Bible Baptist, Freedom Baptist, Stoney Point Baptist, and Harvest Baptist. A Celebration of Life and Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday June 15, 2023 from 1:00pm until 2:30pm at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills with Graveside services being held on June 15, 2023 at Lafayette Memorial Park West at 3:00pm.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Health Keepers Hospice services, specifically Teresa Rogers, Betty Monroe, Amber Bass, Destiny Lowry, Samantha Weiss, and Jordan Arroyo for the extra care and compassion during Betty's final days.
