

Mr. Thomas was in the Special Forces group and fought in Vietnam and Korean Wars. He received many awards during his Army career, including recognition for his courageous leadership and heroic actions.
After retiring from the military, Mr. Thomas served with the Cumberland County Crime Prevention Program as a detective and instructed a criminology class. He was also commended for his contribution with crime in southeastern North Carolina.
Left to cherish his memories are wife, Frances Thomas; daughter, Linda Thomas; stepdaughters, Rebecca Cameron and husband Neil, and Peggy McLaurin; stepson, Terry Hall; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hope Mills Congregational Christian Church 3314 N. Main Street, Hope Mills, NC 28348
