A good memory of my dad was when I was around 6, I got a booboo on my middle finger. I went to my dad to tell him I got hurt on my finger, so of course I stuck up my middle finger to show him where I got hurt. He told me to stay right there how I am, he got his phone out to take a picture of me showing him my finger. He sent the picture of me sticking my middle finger up to my mom and my stepmom and said "this is how she feels about yall." That story was always with him, he would bring it up here and there.  My dad was such a great father, husband, son, and papa. He loved his family so much. He's in heaven taking care of my sister and my grandma. I love you dad, I'll make you proud. 

My heart aches for Don and his family! Don has been my neighbor for the last couple of years! My memory is about our yards. Each time fall gets near, the leaves from his tree falls and end up in my yard. I was out there one day  picking them up with my hands and a rake. He saw me and waved! The next day he had a blower and picked up all the loose leaves.  Also, Jamie nor Don knew that I was trying to top them with the best Christmas decorations. Don out done us by miles! The flag pole is amazing too! Although my son is 7, he and Devon developed a great relationship and we will forever think about Jamie, Devon, Don Sr., his children and his grand children. Our family is here for the family during this difficult time! Rest easy Don! 

I had the privilege of working with Don over the past two (2) years.  Don was a seasoned investigator and, when I needed to backfill my old position, the choice of promoting Don to fill that position was not a difficult choice to make.  Don always supported his team and easily earned their respect.  He did not hesitate to assist in solving a problem and, as a result, quickly built solid relationships with others. 

Don was serious when it came to getting the job done but always maintained an infectious sense of humor.  Don could be in the running for a world record as to how quickly he would text me in response to an email I had sent!  I certainly miss receiving those texts.

In the past year our team also lost another colleague and longtime friend of Don's, Terry Rice, who brought Don into the company.  I am sure Don and Terry are together again exchanging war stories and, more importantly, laughs!

Don will be missed by all of us who worked with him, and I have no doubt that the mark he made not only in the company but in everyone's lives will be felt for many years to come.  

The first time I met Cotton Schwab as my best friend and I would call him, we worked at Cumberland County EMS. Don was sitting inside the deputy office on a cold December night wrapped in a blanket. My partner looked at him and said, “Hey look, it’s my favorite breakfast delicacy, a pig in a blanket!” Don’s reaction was that huge smile he had with some trash talk. We got to know each really well as we worked together from different agencies. Six years or so later I became a Deputy, and SGT Schwab was my platoon SGT. I learned a lot from him, and he treated me like family. Even after he moved into the detective division, he was always checking on me and encouraging me to grow. Over the last twenty years, we talked through social media and friends. My heart was broken when I heard the news. For his immediate family, public service family, and anyone that knew him, heaven gained an angel and we were all blessed by him. Rest In Peace brother!! 

My absolute favorite memory of Don:  

I just came off the witness stand after testifying against the man who attacked me. Don met me at the gate with a friendly reassuring smile and held it open for me. He then nodded his head to follow him and opened the door into the hall. I expected that he either wanted to make sure I was okay or take me across the street to decompress. However, as he gently closed the doors behind us and  he turned around, his face was absolutely beaming! 

“YOU WERE AWESOME!!!” he said in a whispered shout.    “Yeah?” 
“Oh, yeah!”   His countenance is what I imagine it was when the Bills scored a touchdown. He went on for a bit in hushed excitement. 

THEN, I watched him take a deep breath, adjust his tie and coat, and pull his countenance back to professional court appearance before we reentered the courtroom. 

I was so amused at  him, the heaviness of what I had just been through completely melted away. His joy in my victory that I hadn’t even realized, yet, was like water pouring over my soul. 

I consider myself so fortunate to have known more of Don than just his professional exterior, but his passionate & soft heart, his sarcastic wit, and his protective nature.

Don was amazing!!! He was more than a detective. He became my friend & protective big brother.  I will forever be thankful for that! 

Rest in Peace, Don!

Don and I grew up together in a very close-knit family. We are cousins and spent every family birthday, holidays and casual gatherings together. There were seven of us and I have so many fond memories of our childhood. We always looked forward to spending time together. As adults we didn’t see each other as much, but our visits were filled with much reminiscing and tons of laughter. I will always carry my precious memories in my heart. He so loved Jamie, his children and grandchildren. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. 

To Don's beloved ones,
I'm a colleague from Don located in the Netherlands and during this Covid crisis we were introduced to each other and worked together in Asset Protection in a virtual way. I will remember Don forever for his skills and knowledge, but overall for his personality, his dedication and positive mindset, and for being inclusive, taking care of another's needs!

Don truly cared for those who worked for him. From the first conversation to our last, he wanted to make sure he was doing whatever he could to help me reach my goals. He was so genuine and exactly what our team needed in a leader. Conference calls were always funnier when he was on them. I will miss him being my boss. 

I always remember when we was working at cvs together and we would go after all those shoplifters but most importantly when we was in the office we would just talk about everything and anything. We always know how to help each other. Awesome guy. You will always have a place in our hearts. Now rest my friend. Show us the way to better our self. He will always be next to us to help us in so many ways. 

I worked with Don for many years. We had many laughs and many successes . You will be missed. RIP

I remember growing up down the street from my cousins,,from all the late nights playing man hunt to watching you and Ed beat the crap out of each other....lol.... I remember in 5th grade being in school and going through the news paper praying I didn't see you name and picture in the paper of the soldiers that were K.I.A. or soldiers that were M.I.A.. We all thanked god when you came home. We are all going to miss you Donny!!!!!! Love ya Cuzin,, see ya on the flip side,,say hi to My Dad,,Tammy,,and Grandpa for me..Thanks.
