Edward “Toby” Strickland, age 90, of Dunn, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. He was born on June 19, 1929 in Cumberland County to the late Ollie B. Strickland and the late Maggie Sewell Strickland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers: Sam B. Strickland and Ervin Strickland. He was a member of Trinity Lakeshore Pentecostal Holiness church. He worked for many years in the maintenance department of Erwin Mills. He enjoyed spending time tending to his yard, fishing and woodworking. He also enjoyed watching the birds that he built birdhouses for.
Toby is survived by his wife: Peggy Strickland; sons: Danny Strickland of Dunn and Glenn Strickland and wife Susan of Fayetteville; daughter: Judy Hale and husband Dave of Hope Mills; grandsons: Stacy Strickland and wife Rhonda, Corey Strickland and wife Jessica, and Adam Strickland; granddaughters: Patricia, Tammy, Michelle and Kris; nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 21, 2019 in Harnett Devotional Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Chris Brown presiding. The family will greet guest following the service on Monday.
