

Mr. Freddie A. Tew, Jr., 71, of the Plainview Community of Dunn died Friday, December 19th at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital. He was born December 29, 1942 in Sampson County, son of the late Fred A. Tew, Sr. and Emma Frances McCullen Tew. Mr. Tew was the Owner and Operator of Fred Tew’s Store for 40 years. He served as Fire Chief of the Plain View Fire Department for many years and currently served on the Board for the Fire Department. He also served on the Sampson County Board of Education, was a member of Mingo Masonic Lodge and was a dedicated member of Lee’s Chapel OFWB Church. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 23rd at 11:00 A.M. at Lee’s Chapel OFWB Church with Rev. Brad Williamson and Rev. Ricky Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Lee’s Chapel / Williford Cemetery with Masonic Rites. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Tew, two daughters, Suzanne Keever of Charlotte and Tiffany Babb and husband Mike of Clayton, one sister, Lynette Washburn of Dunn, and three grandchildren, Michael Keever, Taylor Keever and Regan Babb. The family will receive friends Monday, December 22nd from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home and other times at the home.
