James Gregory Herring

Mr. James (Jim) G. Herring 73, passed away at home on Oct. 17,2012. Jim was born in Robeson County on June 20, 1939, to the late James W. and Edna Herring. Jim was a faithful member of Kingdom Place Church in Lumberton, NC. He completed four tours of duty in Vietnam, being awarded a bronze star along with several other medals. He worked at Kelly Springfield for 24 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was an excellent carpenter.

Jim is loved deeply by his surviving wife of 39 wonderful years, Mrs. Mary Katherine Herring of the home.

Left to cherish his memories are son, Rev. Tommy David Hendrix, and wife Rev.Donna of Fayetteville; two daughters, Connie H. Blackmon of the Home, and Kathy G. Colt of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:00pm at Reeves Funeral Home on Hope Mills Rd.

The celebration of Jim’s home going will be in Reeves Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday October 21, 2012 at 3:00pm. Officiating this special occasion will be Rev. Gary Strickland and Rev. Tommy Hendrix. He will be laid to rest in Lafayette Memorial Park.
