

James Auley McDuffie Jr., age 56, passed away on February 27, 2026. Born July 30, 1969, James was a hard-working, inspiring, and impactful man with a big heart who loved big. He was a resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and will be remembered with deep respect and affection by all who knew him.
James graduated from Cape Fear High School in 1989. In his younger years, he was known to be mischievous, a trait that many remembered with fondness as part of the spirit that made him who he was.
James met Cynthia Tyson in March 1994 on a blind date, and they were married in October 1994. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth McDuffie, and his father-in-law, Ralph Tyson. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia McDuffie; his daughter, Mandy Hall, and her husband Tim; his grandson, Lawson; his mother-in-law, Kay Tyson; his furbaby, Shelby; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
James enjoyed NASCAR and loved anything with a motor. He could often be found restoring classic cars and trucks, and just plain old tinkering. Above all, his grandson, Lawson, was his greatest joy.
Visitation will be held at Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 North Main Street, Hope Mills, NC 28348, on March 4, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 N Main St, Hope Mills, North Carolina 28348, on March 4, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park, 2301 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, North Carolina, on March 4, 2026.
