James Clifford Thornton

Benson, NC Mr. James Clifford Thornton, age 78 of Benson formerly of Smithfield died Monday, November 7, 2016 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield. Mr. Thornton was born in Sampson County on December 29, 1937 the son of the late William Clifford Thornton & Laura Naylor Thornton and is preceded in death by a brother, John S. Thornton and a son, Barry Dale Thornton. Mr. Thornton was a U.S. Army Veteran and was retired from Channel Masters in Smithfield where he was a Technician. He is survived by: 2 daughters: Donna T. Gallion & (husband) Joe of Nashville, NC; Elizabeth Jan Ward of Clayton, NC; A son: Mark Kevin Thornton of Smithfield, NC; A Brother: Wilbert Thornton of Selma, NC;3 Sisters: Joyce May Mitchell of Coburn, Va.; Charlotte Ann Allen of Benson, NC and Laura Estelle Beal of Ohio; 6 Grandchildren & 1 Great Grandchild.
