Johnny Wright Elmore

Dunn, N.C. Johnny W. Elmore Johnny Wright Elmore, 55, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 12. He was born on December 18, 1958, in Dunn, North Carolina, to the late James O. Elmore, Sr., and Elgeree McCall Elmore. He was a member of the Dunn High School Class of 1977 and graduated from North Carolina State University where he played herald trumpet in the Wolfpack Marching Band. He also sang in the Varsity Men’s Glee Club and was a member of Mu Beta Psi. He was a Mason and Shriner, having served as a Past Master of Palmyra Lodge in Dunn. He was currently employed with the New Hanover Department of Social Services in Wilmington, North Carolina. He is survived by his brother James O. Elmore, Jr., of Clayton, North Carolina; his sister Cynthia Elmore Baggett of Simpsonville, South Carolina; and his aunt Macie McCall Knox of Dunn. Other survivors include nephews Grady Elmore Baggett and Knox Johnson Baggett of Rock Hill, South Carolina; great- nephew Grady Wilson Baggett and great- niece Macie Louise Baggett also of Rock Hill. A family burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 18 at Memorial Cemetery in Dunn. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at First Baptist Church also in Dunn with visitation to follow at the church. Memorials may be made to the music fund of First Baptist Church of Dunn.
