Joyce was born on January 3, 1961, in Harnett County the daughter of the late Malcolm Bunnell and Mamie Stancil-Hernandez. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandchild, Jayla Marie Bass, a brother, James Bunnell and a sister, Carolyn Sue Smith.
Joyce had been a homemaker, a faithful and loving mother to her children and in later years a loving grandmother. She was a hard worker, always ensuring that her home was tidy and neat and preparing delicious home cooked meals for her family. Her biggest treasure in life was her children and grandchildren, she was very proud of them and loved them beyond measure. Joyce loved people...especially people who liked to talk because she loved to strike up a conversation and talk for hours! Her outgoing nature allowed her to make meaningful connections with those that she met and because of that she did not cross paths with anyone who she thought of as a stranger. A mother, a grandmother, sister and friend; she was so many things to so many people and the legacy that she leaves behind will live on in the hearts of those who knew her best.
A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018 at Hodges Chapel Church Cemetery with Rev. Pastor Jimmy Hall officiating.
Left behind to cherish her memory: Son: Clint Bass of Goldsboro, NC; Daughter, Olivia Holman and husband Joshua of Newton Grove, NC; Grandchildren: Joshelyn, Joseph and Jacquelyn Holman; Brothers: Tony Bunnell and wife Tina of Dunn, NC; Malcolm Wayne Bunnell of Benson, NC and Gary Bunnell of Dunn, NC; She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friend Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm at Cromartie Miller Funerals and Cremation in Dunn, NC and at other times at the home of Tony & Tina Bunnell, 1111 Hinson Rd., Dunn, NC
