Margaret Rooker Holloway

On April 25, 2022, Margaret R. Holloway passed away peacefully as she slept. She was 87 years old. Margaret was survived by her son, Cole Holloway and wife Suzi of Loris, SC; her daughter, Valerie Archambeau of Spring Lake, NC; her son, Steve Vann and wife Marianne of Goldsboro, NC; her son, David Vann and wife Sally of Kure Beach, NC; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman Holloway, as well as her son, Davis Holloway.

Margaret was a “people person” who never met a stranger. She loved to travel, bowling, playing Bingo and card games, and to spoil her dog, Gidget. Margaret and Norman’s love story was a real life fairytale. They were both from Henderson, NC, and were introduced there in their teenage years by a mutual friend. They were married and had 3 children, but soon after, the stresses of life unfortunately caused them to separate and divorce. They both went on to marry other people, but years later, after they both divorced, they found each other again and fell madly in love! It was a romance for the ages, where they couldn’t be in the same room as each other without grinning ear to ear, giggling like teenagers, and telling each other “I love you, Sweetheart!” They remarried in a small ceremony, surrounded by family, and spent their retirement years traveling the United States in their motorhome, driving coast to coast visiting friends and family and sight-seeing. They especially enjoyed their trips to New Mexico, seeing Niagara Falls, and their campground in California where they made some life-long friends. Their lives were truly fulfilled by each other, and Gidget, of course! After Norman passed away in 2011, Margaret relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC, and enjoyed some peaceful years by the ocean making new friends. She will be reunited with Norman when she is laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Henderson, NC at a later date to be announced.
