Marianne Elisabeth Dees

Marianne was born in Germany on November 1, 1941 to Franz Willi Otto and Hildegard Theresia Thum Weidner. Marianne was married to Harold Edward Dees on October 4, 1962. Marianne was an avid gardener and she and Harold won “Best Yard in Hope Mills” four times over the years. She loved all things living and had many grand-dogs over the years. She enjoyed working out at the Rec Center in Hope Mills right up until her passing. She was the backbone of her family and held everyone together. Her thick German accent had a definite Southern drawl, which everyone found endearing. She was a survivor in many ways, from being bombed in Germany, to beating breast cancer three times, she did it all with a flourish and a smile on her face. Marianne was extremely proud of her German heritage, but she was also so very proud to become an American citizen.

Marianne is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dees, and her parents, Franz Weidner and Hildegard Weidner. She is survived by her daughters, Andrea Martinez and Glenda Dees; her grandchildren, Dawna Martinez and Tyler Martinez (Kayla); her great grandchildren, Bianca, Halona, Jax, Gracelynn, Riverlynn, and Novalynn; her brother, Heinz Dieter Weidner; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation with family & friends for Marianne will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 N Main St, Hope Mills, North Carolina 28348. A Celebration of Life will be held onTuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Manna Church Hope Mills Site, 3744 Legion Road, Hope Mills, North Carolina.
