Raymond Joseph Ortega

Raymond (Ray) Joseph Ortega, 70, of Fayetteville, NC passed away in his home August 24th 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years Marianne Ortega, son Christopher Ortega, brother Richard Ortega, and his parents Raymond and Carmen Ortega.

Ray loved his family, dogs, and friends he had over the years. Everyone was welcome at his home and he even “adopted” a few extra children along the way and provided them with a place to stay. He especially enjoyed having everyone over to gather around the dining room table to enjoy a good meal and fellowship. Ray loved food especially his wife’s Italian cooking and later on meals made by his son in law, Allan. Ray worked most of his adult life in the automotive industry and learned the value of hard work and simply showing up. He instilled these values in his children and grandchildren. Ray was known for his sense of humor, witty and sometimes sarcastic remarks, and occasional crude jokes that made some laugh and some cringe, but mostly laugh. Ray also enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, and finishing numerous home improvement projects.

Left to remember and cherish his life are his daughter Gina Gentry (Allan) of Hope Mills, NC, son Robert Ortega (Nicole) of Oak Ridge, TN,; four grandchildren Bryana, Blake, Aiden, and Ambrose; and his siblings, Nelson Ortega Sr. of Hope Mills, NC and Mary Williams (Ronald) of Statesville, NC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service for Raymond will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 3308 N Main St, Hope Mills, North Carolina 28348.
