

Thomas Edward Knight of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012. Thomas was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September. He died peacefully at home embraced by his daughter Haley, wife Judilyn, and sister-in-law Jean Mardis of Ft. Lauderdale. FL.
He was a 1956 graduate of Seventy-First High School in Fayetteville. While in high school, Thomas drove a bus and was a member of the North Carolina National Guard. Thomas was a 32nd degree Mason and served three years in the US Army. Known by many simply as Tom, he was well loved by friends and family for his wit and sense of humor. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church (formerly known as Hickory Grove Freewill Baptist) since 1985. Thomas Knight was a truck driver and operated an 18-wheeler for over 50 years, long distance and locally. He was with Purolator for 20 years. Thomas drove for Corney Transportation, Inc. since 2005. His last day on the job was September 3rd.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents William Jones and Flora McLean Knight; brother, Crosby Knight; sister, Virginia (Sibby) Bachelor. Also preceding Thomas in death is his first wife Janet McCormick Harrington and their son Clay Carlton Knight, who passed away at age 12. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judilyn Hatfield Knight; their daughter Haley Knight Singletary, her husband Brandon and Brandon’s son, Samj, of Fayetteville, NC. Also surviving are Thomas and Janet’s children: daughter, Tori Knight Ferguson and her husband RC, and grandson Cormac Stone Ferguson of Knightdale, NC and his son, Kevin Scott Knight of Wilmington, NC.
