In her life, Barbara shared a deep love with her husband, Mitchell B. Jay, together welcoming two sons, Paul and David Jay, we want to mention with great love her honorary son, Rodger Nichols. Miss Barbara was cherished not only by her family but also by friends, and the community, who appreciated her warm spirit. For 21 years, she dedicated herself to driving a school bus, becoming a familiar and beloved face to countless children in Grove Hill.
As the wife of a serviceman, Barbara held the VFW close to her heart and became a steadfast member. Her faith was central to her life; she was a devoted Christian and an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Grove Hill. In the last year, she moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she attended Westminster Presbyterian Church and quickly formed many new friendships.

A woman of many interests, Miss Barbara found joy in gardening, completing puzzles, and enjoying her favorite television show, Gunsmoke. She had an undeniable love for ice cream and celebrated her faith in the Lord openly, sharing her joy of salvation with all those around her. Known to speak her mind, but she always did it with kindness. Those who knew her always knew where they stood with Miss Barbara.
