Bart Messina was born in Brooklyn on March 3, 1940. He married Patricia Harrison, also of Brooklyn. She survives. Their children, John, Teresa, and Joe, and his grandson Nicholas all live in Hot Springs, where Bart died on September 26, 2021.
After schooling in Brooklyn and on Long Island, Bart joined the airborne infantry. In later life, Bart wore his military caps with pride and appreciated strangers who approached him to thank him for his service.
He was also proud of his work as member and director of the Mountain Valley Sportsman’s Association and greatly contributed to its growth and local impact. He was active with MVSA as long as his health permitted.
Services, including military honors, will be at Gross Funeral Home on Monday, October 4, at 10:00 A. M. Memorials may be made to veterans’ organizations or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
