

Bruce Woodward, 87, of Hot Springs, AR passed away peacefully on December 5, 2015 in his home. Bruce was born June 12, 1928 to Delmar and Martha Woodward in Keokee, Virginia, the eldest of eight children. Bruce was married to Ingrid Maier Johnson on May 8, 1988 and were happily married for 27 years. In June 1946 at the age of 18, Bruce joined the Army. After serving for 26 years he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer W-3. During his service he was honored to receive numerous recognitions including the Good Conduct, American Theater, and the Pacific Theater medals. Along with the World War II Victory medal, World War II Army of Occupation medal, National Service and National Defense Service medals, and a Bronze Star medal for his service in Vietnam. Bruce enjoyed long distance running, often participating in marathons around the world, reading, playing Scrabble, and hiking with his wife Ingrid and their hiking club, The Ouachita Mountain Hikers. Bruce is survived by his wife, Ingrid; one son Randy Woodward of Eureka Springs; seven step-sons and one step-daughter; nephews and nieces, and one very special niece Erma Chandler and family, and a very special grandson Stephen Gamboa. He is predeceased by his father Delmar (1994); his mother Martha (1989); brothers- Ed (2013), David (1983), and Jerry (1968); sisters- Mildred (1992), Loreen (2004), Jean (2000), and Judy (2008). A Memorial service with full military honors will be held 5:00 pm, Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Gross Funeral Home, 120 Wrights St. Hot Springs, Arkansas, with Pastor Carroll Graybeal officiating.
