Bunnie served in the US Army Reserves for 28 Years retiring as an E8 Master Sargent. He
worked in the Automotive Aftermarket for over 50 years. He started his auto parts career as a
delivery boy for Ed & Frances Smitherman at Auto Parts & Bearings. There he made lifelong
friends. He moved up in the Auto Parts business and spent many years as a Manufacturers
Sales Representative for Hastings Manufacturing Company, TRW & Federal Mogul. He retired
twice with his last retirement in January 2023 from Hirsig Frazier. Through the years he
developed a "family like" relationship with his buddies at PWI in Little Rock.
He loved to travel both in and out of the country. He loved driving cross country to Colorado and
states out west in search of wildlife grazing in their natural habitats. He loved a good golf game
and played softball for many years. He enjoyed his school years and loved seeing his old
classmates and dancing to the old "tunes".
What he loved most was his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather & great
grandfather who worked hard and provided well for his family. He did his best to give them the
world. He was affectionately referred to as POOPA by not only his grandchildren but by many of
their friends. His love language was feeding people. He was referred to as the "Chili Dog King"
and any friend of his children has been fed more than a few. He was a man of faith and raised his children by setting a Christlike example. He drove the church bus many miles with noisy
teenagers in his ear. When his body failed him but his mind was still sharp he maintained his
loving attitude and accepted his situation with grace. He was kind and thankful for even the
smallest things his friends & family did for him. When he was told that he was in the final stages
of this terrible disease his words were “I’ve had a great life". He was one in a billion.
A memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Gross Funeral Home Chapel.
