Donald Gerstein

Donald Gerstein, 90 years old, of Hot Springs Arkansas peacefully joined his wife, Dolores, in heaven on January 29, 2026.  Born in Fox Lake, IL to the late Abraham Gerstein and Margaret (Allard) Gerstein.

Don was an Army Veteran, and entrepreneur; always taking on ventures, traveling, playing sports, (including softball well into his 70’s), and enjoying living his life his way.  He married his high school sweetheart, on 9/12/53. Together they were blessed with 63 years of love and laughter.

  Don remained a widower for 10 years, and continued to work at Oaklawn Race Track until his sudden illness in Jan of ’26.  Cherishing his memory are his 2 adult children; Donald (Lynn) Gerstein Jr., and Kathryn (Eric) Moberg. 3 grandchildren; Angelena (Mike) Coon, Becky Gerstein, and  Addison (Rose) Gerstein. 3 great-grandchildren; Lily Horn, Grier Gerstein, and Nevaeh Gerstein.

  Don was laid to rest at a private ceremony with family. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorials to a charity close to your heart or St. Mary’s Church in Downtown Hot Springs.
