Dorothy May Crossno, 90, of Arkadelphia, formerly of Hot Springs, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord December 15, 2016. Dorothy was born in Tennessee to the late Frank and Pearly Bell Crossno on September 12, 1926.
Dorothy became a resident of St. Michael’s at the young age of 9. At St. Michael’s, Dorothy met Stella Spoon and Claire Landry with whom she would remain close throughout their lives. While Stella left to care for an ailing father, Dorothy and Claire remained at St. Michaels where they were educated and joined the convent as nuns. Dorothy spent many years in the nursery at St. Michael’s joyfully loving and caring for babies.
Dorothy and Claire later moved to Hope becoming sisters of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church. They opened a daycare in their home where they were able to provide care for underprivileged children for over a decade.
After Claire had passed, Dorothy eventually became a resident of Twin Rivers Nursing Home in Arkadelphia. . Laughter, memories, and goodies Stella brought would be shared. Stella, who had become a professor at Henderson State, would visit Dorothy faithfully twice a week. Sometime later because of health issues, it became Sundays they spent together until Stella passed away.
During her life, Dorothy enjoyed making candy, singing, crocheting, embroidering, and listening to her favorite song, “Lady in Red.” Dorothy has now been reunited with her parents, her siblings, and her two dear friends- Claire and Stella.
