Mrs. Edwina "Tony" Mize

Mary Edwina "Tony" Mize, 82 of Hot Springs, AR was born on July 5,1933 to Hollis and Lucille McMorris in Carpenter, MS. She moved to Jackson from Hazlehurst and graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1952. Tony worked at MP&L until the early 1960's and made her career in the stock market. She was employed by Merrill Lynch in Jackson, MS as a sales associate for almost 30 years. Tony met and married her true soulmate, Albert Jackson Mize on December 20, 1979. They spent over 30 years traveling and lived in Guam, Maryland, Mississippi, and planted their final roots in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They enjoyed years of gardening and camping together. Tony was a superior seamstress and also loved quilting, knitting, reading her Bible, watching the horse races, and watching Michael Jordan play basketball. Even after her retirement from Merrill Lynch, Tony enjoyed watching the stock market daily. Tony was a devoted member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Tony ended her earthly life on July 11, 2015 She passed peacefully with her devoted husband Albert by her side. She is survived by her husband of 35 years Albert Mize, one daughter, Leslie Clarke of Raymond, MS, two step daughters Brelinda Barlow of Texarkana, TX and Kathy Blakeney of Raymond, MS, 2 brothers, 9 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and two special friends, Steve and Charlotte Cannon. She is preceded in death by her parents Hollis and Lucille McMorris and one brother Billy McMorris. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday July 16th, 2015 in the chapel of Gross Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy Blackmon officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 until service time on Thursday.
