Gayle Thompson

Gayle Thompson, of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, formally of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Gayle was born on March 14, 1938 in Tyler, Texas to the late Aubrey and Juanita (Higginbotham) Ward. She married Edwin “Slim” Thompson on August 20, 1953 in Tyler, Texas. They shared their life together for 59 years.

Gayle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved her family and friends. She prided in being a homemaker. She was a talented “Southern” cook and a master baker. Sharing these gifts brought her great joy.

Gayle is preceded in death by her husband Edwin Thompson, brother James Ward, sisters Patsy Wilson, Deloris Golden and Virginia Taylor.

She is survived by her daughter, Karla Dunn (Ron); son Greg Thompson (Laura); granddaughters Brita Fajer (Paul), Nickelette Williams (Justin), Payton Looper (Cody); grandson Keir Covington and great-granddaughters Tatum Covington and Amelia Williams.

Pallbearers are Tim Ward, Tony Ward, Randy Ward, Gene Pryor, Brad Taylor and Michael Tannery.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Crestview Memorial Park.
