Jake passed at the age of 33 surrounded by his family. Jake was born with Cerebral Palsy and while this was a journey accompanied with trials, he was able to leave this earth having given more to it than he ever took in return. Jake’s superpower was his ability to touch hearts. While he could not communicate in the traditional ways, everyone around him was touched by his infectious smile and laugh.
Jake was pure. He taught those around him lessons of gratitude, patience, and the beauty of small moments. Many people who cared for him were inspired to pursue helping professions such as nursing or physical therapy. He reminded those around him that the greatest gifts of life are connection, kindness, and the power of simply being present. He provided these reminders everywhere that he went including Benton where he graduated high school and at Easter Seals where he was known as a VIP Easter Seals Ambassador.
Jake was the embodiment of unconditional love. The family rests easy knowing that while he was confined in his worldly life, he now knows no bounds. There is no doubt that upon his passing he was greeted by family eager to watch him, not only run, but soar. This family includes grandparents and his ornery uncles Don and Doug who likely embraced him and ushered him to a card table where they are now playing a game of Hearts.
Though Jake spent his life limited physically, this did not prevent him from helping everyone around him grow in ways that they did not know they needed. He had the biggest impact on his loving parents, Donna and Allen and his best friend and baby brother, Luke. Jake was a light in a world that is not always kind and those that knew him are grateful that he shined without fault. Rest easy now, Jake. Though your body’s work may be over, we know that you are now free.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses, caregivers, and medical teams who became an extension of their family over the years. Your dedication brought comfort and joy to Jake’s life, and for that, we are eternally grateful. A celebration Jake’s life will be held on 02-07-2025. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Arkansas Children Hospital, a cause close to the family’s heart. As we mourn his absence, we also rejoice in the privilege of having been loved by such an extraordinary soul.
