Born in Dalhart, TX on January 2, 1919 to the late Daniel and Mary Cessnun; he was one of seven siblings. He was a decorated veteran of the US Army in World War II, receiving the Bronze Star for his service in China, Burma, and India Theater of Operations as a member of Merrill’s Marauders.
He was self-employed as a blacksmith and bootmaker, working at several race tracks across the United States.
He was predeceased by a son, John, and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rill Browne Cessnun; two daughters, Mary (Bill) Lee, of Hot Springs, and Kristine (Mike) Roberts, of Monroe, LA; one granddaughter, Mary Samantha Beggs, and one great-granddaughter, Emarie Reed Rushing.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers of the VA Hospice, Arkansas Hospice, neighborhood friends, and especially Allen Butterfield.
A graveside service will take place at 10:00a.m. Friday June 5, 2015 at Crestview Cemetery.
