When you see a beautiful blue sky painted with puffy white clouds or gaze upon flowers just waiting to be photographed, think of me and we’ll be together again for that moment.
Lorien passed to the ages on February 4, 2025, at CHI St. Vincent’s in Hot Springs, AR, following several weeks’ illness. She was a poet, a writer, a photographer, a music lover and a font of knowledge on many subjects. She was also a beloved friend and confidante to dozens of people.
Lorien graduated with honors from Lake Hamilton High School in Hot Springs, AR, in 1992 and from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2022, where she achieved a 4.0 grade average and earned a degree in Speech Communications.
While in high school, Lorien participated in the Thespians Society and had major roles in several theater productions. She was also a member of the Lake Hamilton Choir and was selected for and attended the Arkansas Governor’s School in Vocal Performance in 1991.
Her work life included being a staff photographer and writer with The Sentinel Record newspaper in Hot Springs, AR, as well as a sought-after professional freelance photographer. She also worked in different fields over the years. She pursued other interests in her chosen city, including serving on the selection committee for the annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.
She was cherished by and leaves behind a son, Garrett Evan Dahl of Harrisonville, MO; her mother, Mary Statum Dahl of Acworth, GA; her sister, Melanie Chournos and nephew, Kosta Chournos, of Ogden, UT, along with many cousins. Lorien will be sorely missed by friends and family. A private service for the family will be conducted at a later date.
