Monroe Clayton Greene

Born and raised predominantly in Columbia County, AR, Monroe has resided in Hot Springs for the past 52 years. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church and previously served for years in the Arkansas Army National Guard. While living in Hot Springs, Monroe worked for Sherwin-Willliams Paint and Kmart, later owning and operating Greene’s Lawn Care and Handyman Service.

Monroe was playful and witty; a devoted family man who enjoyed people. He rarely met a stranger, creating friendships and discovering unique connections throughout his life. He remains beloved by many.

Monroe was predeceased by his parents Walter Monroe Greene and Verda Mae (Franks) Greene, sister Mary Crain, brother-in-law Jerry Crain and brother Robert Greene. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 66 years, Patsy Ann (Evers) Greene; three children - Dale Greene (Jeanna) of Hartwell, GA, Evonne Greene Jones (Kevin Willette) of Austin, TX, Tina Greene Stewart (JD) of Hot Springs; and four grandchildren - Erin Jones, Melissa Jones, Tom Greene and Sarah Beth Stewart. Monroe is also survived by a host of beloved, extended family members.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many loving caregivers & fellow residents at Brookfield Assisted Living and Golden Years Care Home who provided care and joy to Monroe and Patsy in recent years.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Gross Funeral Home (120 Wrights St, Hot Springs, AR.)

Visitation with the family will be held at 2pm in Magnolia AR on Saturday March 8, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Home (420 N Jackson, Magnolia, AR.)

A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:30pm in the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Eric Goble officiating.

Interment of remains will be held by the immediate family at Christies Chapel Cemetery at a future date.
