Born in Lemont, Illinois to the late Edward and Margaret Schultz, Ralph enlisted in the Army shortly after high school and in turn, became a veteran of the Vietnam War. In the military, Ralph was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, a Sharp Shooter Medal, and trained on the operation and maintenance of large scale electrical equipment. Eventually it was Ralph training military personnel about the repair of the equipment. This experience led to a long career in the electrical industry. Ralph retired from Hi-Tech Engineering Company in 2003.
Ralph was greeted in Heaven by his parents; brothers Eddy, Bill, and Jack Schultz; sisters Dawn Rhode and Jean Torma; and grandson, Josh Hudson.
Ralph enjoyed baseball and fishing, but his greatest joy was his family- especially his wife, Frances; children Debbie (Bill) Hudson and Ralph “Scooper” Schultz; bonus children Kelly (Gary) Beckwith and Kevin (Cheryl) Thornton; grandchildren Austin and Sierra Schultz, Dylan and Devin Hudson, Felisha (Luke) Maxwell; Molly (Jon) Gutman; Tylon (Megan) Beckwith; Sydney, Chloe, Caleb, Shelby, & Noah Thornton; five great-grandchildren; sisters Althea Sovich and Martha Novack; many nieces and nephews; and of course, his First Baptist Church family.
A Visitation will be Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 5 to 7 pm.
Burial at Greenwood will be private.
The family would like to thank Visiting Angels for their care and kindness.
