Mr. Robert "Bob" Gartenberg

Robert “Bob” Samuel Gartenberg, 85, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. He was born on December 19, 1929 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Leo and Irene (Levin) Gartenberg. Bob was a graduate of Hot Springs High School and then went on to obtain a degree from the University of Indiana. Bob owned and operated Gartenberg Department Store in downtown Hot Springs for several years. He previously served on the board at Levi Towers and was a past president at the Congregation House of Israel. Bob was an avid Razorback basketball fan and loved being part owner of a racehorse. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years Elaine Gartenberg; daughter, Terri Gartenberg (Olin Needle); son, Leonard “Lenny” Gartenberg (Stephanie); daughter, Carol Fletcher (Paul) and grandchildren, Wesley Needle, Tyler Gartenberg, Jake Gartenberg, Nathan Fletcher, Kasey Fletcher and Abby Fletcher. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Congregation House of Israel with Rabbi Barry Block officiating.
