Rodney Spear

Rodney “Rod” Spear passed away on 10/26/24 unexpectedly at age 69 in the Emergency Department at CHI St. Vincent Medical Center in Hot Springs.

Rodney was born on July 21, 1955, in Parsons, KS to Otis “Gene” Spear and Waneta Mae Pruitt Spear. He attended school in Parsons and Obtained his Associate of Science Degree at LCCC in Parsons, KS in 1975. He relocated to Kirksville, MO where he obtained his AMT Medical Technology Certification in 1982.

On August 21, 1982, he married his wife of 42 years Trina Johnson. In 1991 they moved from Kirksville, MO to Hot Springs, AR. They have 2 wonderful sons Sean and Ryan Spear who currently live in Texas.

Rod had a passion for the outdoors and fishing. He loved time spent with his sons in Scouting where he supported many young men at St. John’s Boy Scout Troop. He enjoyed time spent with family and they were some of the greatest parts of his life. He enjoyed a career as Medical Technologist in the Clinical Laboratory at Kirksville, MO, NPMC in Hot Springs, CHI Hot Springs, Wadley Regional Med Center Hope and Baptist Health in Malvern.

In addition to his wife and sons, Rod is survived by his Sisters Sherry Petrillo and Cynthia Huebner, Brothers Joe Spear (Norma), Steve Spear and Jeff Spear (Tina), He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled at Gross Funeral Home Chapel Hot Springs Thursday 10/31/24 from 5:00PM-7:00PM. Rosary from 5:00-5:30 PM.

Funeral Services will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church Hot Springs. Friday 11/01/24 at 1:00 PM
