

Sally Ann Humphreys Beckman, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend of many, passed away peacefully on November 24th, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on August 5th, 1933, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Sally was the cherished daughter of the late Paul and Lois Humphreys.
Sally graduated from Hot Springs High School, then went on to earn an undergraduate degree in education from Hendrix College and her master's degree in education from Henderson State University. Her passion for teaching and nurturing young lives led her to a fulfilling career as a teacher where she inspired countless students over her 35-year career.
Sally married the love of her life, Paul Beckman. Together, they built warm and loving homes in Hot Springs, Arkansas and Granbury, Texas. Sally was a devoted mother, always encouraging and supporting her four children to pursue their dreams and supporting them in every endeavor.
Sally loved her church family and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs for over 50 years. She loved volunteering and participating in numerous community events including Habitat for Humanity in both Arkansas and Texas. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, and she was known for helping others, her infectious smile and unwavering optimism.
In her retirement, Sally enjoyed traveling to over 40 states with her husband Paul. Her everyday passions were cooking, gardening, picking blackberries, garage sales and spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She loved hosting family gatherings, where her home was filled with laughter and love and usually a lesson; she never stopped teaching and mentoring her children and grandchildren.
Sally is survived by her four children; Paul Thurman, Jr., Mark Thurman (Denice), Tammy Thurman Carrithers (Tim), Lisa Thurman Lapenna (Rod) along with 9 grandchildren, Paul Thurman III, Kyle Thurman (Mycah), Tarabeth Faulkner (Josh), Ashley Olivera (Isaias), Tyler Hooper (Beth), Ross Carrithers (Callie), Hunter Carrithers (Tatiana), Ava Lapenna and Livia Lapenna with an ever-growing list of great grandchildren, many cherished nieces and nephews, as well as her two sisters, Martha Alexander and Susan Northern, and is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lee Mathews.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM, Monday, January 20th, 2025 in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church-Hot Springs.
