

Terry Sims, 66, of Hot Springs, was a lover of life, his family, and his friends. He was a calm quiet man, a good listener, and a natural leader. Terry was caring and kind hearted, had the best sense of humor and enjoyed laughing with others. He was loved by all who knew him and gave the love back in return.
Terry left us on Thursday September 18, 2014. He was born on December 21, 1947 to Lloyd and Novella Sims.
Terry was a graduate of Cutter Morning Star in 1965, he also attended Henderson State University where he earned both a Bachelors and Masters Degree, then went on to pursue a long career in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling as a Licensed Professional Counselor. He received a special honor in 2008 when he was voted State Counselor of the Year by his peers through the Arkansas Rehabilitation Association. Terry also served as a member of the United States Army.
Terry was preceded in death by both his mother and father. Those still keeping his memory are his best friend and wife of 22 years, Jana Sims. Three children; Angela (Lonnie) Richardson, Doug (Samantha) Harvey, and Brian (Sharon) Harvey. Terry was known as “Geege” by his four granddaughters Hannah “Goose-Hawvey”, Kayla “Kaya”, Landrey “Landrey-Dawn”, and Ashlyn “Mittens”. He is also survived by many loving and caring extended family members, friends, and his best dog Kookie.
A visitation will be held Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 4:00-6:00p.m., followed by services on Monday September 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Gross Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Don Crossley from St. Mark’s Baptist Church.
Burial will take place at Cutter Morning Star Cemetery immediately following the services.
Pallbearers include: Mike Shaw, Tom Albaugh, Jim McDonald, Brian Teague, Billy Aaron Fulmer, and Larry Akers.
Honorary Pallbearers: Doctors and Staff of CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs, Advanced Care and numerous friends.
