Theodore Ulysses Smith, 64, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022 alongside his daughter, Erica Smith.
Ted was born July 14, 1958 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1976 and remained in touch with many of his classmates. Upon his high school graduation, Ted moved to Little Rock and eventually moved to Kansas City, Missouri with his brother Edward Smith. At the tender age of 19 years ago, Ted devoted his life to serving his Savior Jesus Christ. He began his ministry in the Metroplex of Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas at the following churches: Faith Mission, Clearwater Mission, Deliverance Center and Deliverance Temple. The Holy Spirit led Ted to return to his hometown of Hot Springs, Arkansas and he was the leading pastor at New Life Christian Fellowship Center. Ted was no stranger to hard word; he had a flourishing career is the financial industry working for Mercantile bank and later retired at Bank of America. Ted always had several part time jobs; has the great provider for his family including UPS, FedEx and cleaning office buildings with his surviving brother, Edward Smith. He thoroughly enjoyed working, reading his Bible and a variety of Christian arts and crafts. Ted also enjoyed watching a variety of sports. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and was gifted a private tour of the AT&T Cowboys stadium for his 60th birthday by his only surviving daughter, Erica Smith.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Erica Smith and his first wife Patrice Smith-Pinkard of Kansas City, Missouri; and her husband Darryl Pinkard. His second wife, Yolanda Smith, and stepdaughter, Sharron Rogers and Tiara Thomas; and brother Andre Wesley. Ted will be reunited in Heaven with his parents, Oletha and Alvin Smith, Blytheville, Arkansas. His siblings Alvin Smith Jr., Fred Smith, Margaret Smith, Alain Carter, and Oletha Smith. His surviving siblings are Edward Smith in Kansas City, Missouri and Oleta Smith in Abbeville, Louisiana along with several nieces and nephews all over the world.
A special thank you to the cardiology staff at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas for taking care of Ted with love, care and support during his final days.
Pallbearers are, Victor Smith, James Smith, Anthony Smith, Karedo Smith, Andre Wesley and
Demetrius Walker.
Honorary pallbearers are Timothy Harrington, Jerome White, Ed Smith, and Melvin Carter.
Visitation will be at 5:00pm-7:00pm on Tuesday, November 15th at Gross Funeral Home, 120 Wrights St. Hot Springs, AR 71913. The funeral service will be at 1:00pm, on Wednesday, November 16th at Gross Funeral Home Chapel.
