She was born in Hot Springs to the late Green and Maryann Sorter.
A true outdoors woman, Wanita loved to camp and was known to come home with more fish than stories. Though she loved to camp, what Wanita did best was grow things- vegetables, flowers, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren seemed to thrive when in her loving care.
Wanita was predeceased by her son, Darrell Downie.
Those cherishing her memory are her husband of 54 years, Frank Downie; children Brenda (Steve)Bratten, Sandra Dee (Greg) Harmon, Rodney Downie, Frankie Downie, and Kelly Applegate; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren (with two more on the way).
